A Newsletter Here’s a Thought foi criada com o propósito de abordar assuntos interessantes de forma pausada e refletida, longe do ritmo frenético das redes sociais. Há muito procurava um espaço no qual pudesse escrever sem as restrições características dos grandes jornais e fora da cadência desumana das mídias sociais. Fui encontrá-lo nessa plataforma, que além dos textos, oferece a possibilidade de publicar podcasts e vídeos.

Essa Newsletter é multidisciplinar, refletindo meus múltiplos interesses. Aqui vocês encontrarão artigos/áudios/vídeos sobre economia, ciências biomédicas, política, literatura, além de qualquer outro tema que estiver fazendo meu cérebro coçar. Por vezes tudo isso estará misturado, já que pensar é o ato de conectar e associar.

O conteúdo dessa Newsletter é autoral e exclusivo. Nada aqui é publicado em outra parte. As reflexões que vocês encontrarão aqui são originais, fora de consensos pré-moldados, e contam com muitos anos de pesquisa acadêmica, sempre priorizando rigor, didática, e estética. O cuidado com a palavra e com a linguagem, tão abusadas nessa era das mídias digitais, norteiam tudo o que publico.

Why Subscribe?

I created this Newsletter out of a sense of purpose to write and talk about the issues that I care about, but also to be an outlet for Thinking without vying for “likes” and the other attention-seeking shackles of social media.

The range of issues and topics covered in this Newsletter is vast. It's about economics and immunology, politics and literature, the life sciences and social media, communication and miscommunication. By subscribing to this Newsletter you will have access to original thought presented in English and in Portuguese.

A bit about me

I am an economist and an immunologist by training — I hold a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a MSc. in Immunology and Microbiology from Georgetown University. I have over 20 years of experience in teaching (undergraduate and graduate students) and research. I've been the Director of Latin American Studies at the School of Advanced International Studies | Johns Hopkins University, I've worked at the International Monetary Fund, I've had my own macroeconomic consultancy company in Brazil. Currently, I am a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC.
